I was checking out posts in Riverside when I came upon this reply.

"Umm no thanks, a player that joins Jan 2008 and this is his 4th post, sorry I don't trust you."

Regardless of what the post was about, it looks like elitism to me.

New members with low post counts having links such as that post had are very suspect of being advertisements. It's not elitism, just caution.

The context of the post does matter.

This forum gets a daily dose of ads from new members with low (or no) post count, hence the skepticism (not elitism).

If one looks hard enough, one can find what one believes to be elitism.

I am curious to know what exactly you have seen (other than that one post) that causes you to ask the question about elitism.

It's not elitism. If I joined a forum and on one of my first posts had a link to somewhere that someone doesn't recognize you're going to err on the side of caution.

Well, there was also that rash of new forum ppl in Riverside during that "117" crap. A whole bunch of "Jan 2008" posting this and that in that thread and a few others related to that. Their posts were treated as questionable to say the least by a few ppl, myself included, and I think that was pretty justifiable.

However yes there is elitism on this forum, there is also elitism in everyday life, you cant escape it bud.
